The weather outside may be frightful, but the season for diabetes camp is just around the corner! If you are thinking of sending your child to one of these camps, you may be interested in an initiative by the Bret Michaels Life Rocks Foundation.
Each year, the Foundation attempts to send as many children as possible to diabetes camp. To have your child considered for this opportunity, choose a diabetes camp in your area that has a registered 501(c)3 status. Once you have chosen a camp, fill out the camp’s registration forms, then scan the forms and e-mail them with the subject line to patrick@michaelsnation.com. Be sure to include your name, mailing address, phone number, and e-mail address. Once your forms have been reviewed, you will be contacted by the foundation with further information.
Bret, who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age 6, is committed to “help[ing] children learn how to monitor and control their blood sugar, to not let the disease control them. Just let kids go be kids, let them make new friends and relate to other kids going through the same thing they are, helping them to realize they aren’t alone.”
