As someone with diabetes, health-care reform is no doubt important to you. And with an election looming, understanding the different approaches to this issue is especially significant.
That’s where “Health Care: A Citizen’s Solution Guide,” comes in. Created by Public Agenda, a nonpartisan research and public engagement organization based in Manhattan, this free guide looks at three different plans of action — moving to government-provided, universal health care; instituting a system based on competition and consumer choice; and adjusting the current system to make it more affordable and accessible — outlining what the different approaches would involve, examining the pros and cons of each, and discussing potential consequences.
“The American health care system is complicated and the answers won’t fit on a bumper sticker,” noted Maura Casey, coauthor of the guide. “The more the public understands what is at stake and speaks out, the better our chances of improving health care for everyone.”
The guide is available online or as a downloadable, interactive PDF at the Public Agenda Web site.
