Proper nutrition is a major part of controlling diabetes, as well as avoiding and managing many other health conditions. Recognizing this, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has formed a nutrition task force to “coordinate and accelerate progress in nutrition research across the NIH and guide the development of the first NIH-wide strategic plan for nutrition research for the next 10 years.”
The National Institutes of Health Nutrition Research Task Force (NRTF) will include experts from various fields who will determine where to focus nutrition-related research in the coming decade. The group will be led by Griffin P. Rodgers, MD, MACP, director of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK). A part of the NIH, the NIDDK conducts research on diabetes and various related conditions.
For more information on the NRTF, see the press release on the NIH website.
