If you’re an adult with Type 1 diabetes, you may be interested in “ONE: The Ultimate Conference & Retreat for Adults with Type 1 Diabetes,” being presented by Taking Control of Your Diabetes (TCOYD) this summer.
TCOYD is a nonprofit organization founded by Steven Edelman, an endocrinologist with Type 1 diabetes, in 1995 to “educate and motivate people with diabetes to take a more active role in their condition.” The group has a number of initiatives, including its online reality series Extreme Diabetes Makeover; its recurring video series, “The Edelman Report”; and its national conferences and health fairs.
Taking place from June 23–25, 2017, at the Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa and Marina in San Diego, California, the conference will feature lectures from well-known speakers, fitness sessions, social events, workshops, a health fair, the opportunity to speak with diabetes specialists, and more.
The program includes presentations on topics such as “The Artificial Pancreas: It’s Closer Than You Think,” “The Big Debate: Pumps Versus Multiple Daily Injections,” “Alcohol and Diabetes: Do They Mix?” and “It’s Not Just About Your A1C!” Loved ones are also encouraged to attend, and can participate in a special workshop, “Supporting Your Loved Ones With Type 1.” For the full list of events, see the official conference brochure.
The registration fee is $150 per person through March 23. After March 23, the late registration fee is $200 per person. The registration fee covers meals, sponsored parties, lectures, workshops, the health fair, fitness sessions, and “ask a specialist” sessions.
