Type 1 diabetes mother-daughter weekend

Are you, or are you the mother of, a preteen or teenage girl with Type 1 diabetes? Then you may be interested in the upcoming Mother-Daughter Weekend being hosted by the nonprofit diabetes group Carb DM.

Started in 2013, the event is for preteen and teenage girls (ages 12 or above in 2015) who are interested in discovering techniques for stress reduction and improving well being, as well as “learning more about managing [Type 1 diabetes] throughout the female life cycle, getting tools for effective mother-daughter communication, and learning how to deal with diabetes in the real world.”

The Mother-Daughter Weekend will take place from Friday, May 1, at 5 PM PDT, through Sunday, May 3, at 2 PM PDT, at the Holiday Inn Dublin-Pleasanton in Dublin, California. A registration fee of $175 (or $125 subsidized) covers program registration, meals, and activities. Upon completing registration, participants will receive a special rate code to use when making hotel reservations, which will reserve the room at a nightly rate of $75 plus tax.

For more information, and to register, visit the Carb DM website. And for questions, e-mail rsvp@carbdm.org.
