According to the American Diabetes Association (ADA), 5.7 million Americans have diabetes and don’t know it. A person’s risk of this condition can be assessed in part with a blood glucose test, which is why Walgreens is offering free blood glucose monitoring to walk-ins at select stores and Take Care clinics nationwide through February 18. If you are worried about your health and want to get checked, find the participating store nearest to you by visiting Walgreens online at www.walgreens.com/diabetes or calling (800) WALGREENS (925-4733). At the Web site, you can download a consent form to fill out ahead of time and bring to the store — and if you’re not sure whether you should go, there’s also an eight-question risk assessment from the ADA (in both English and Spanish) available.
