What We’re Reading: Share Your Story With GlucoStories

Text Size:

Successful diabetes management involves many elements, not the least of which is community support. Now, people looking to share their personal experiences with the condition and to learn from the stories of others can do so in a new contest at www.glucostories.com.

The contest, which is a joint venture of diabetes supply company American Diabetes Wholesale and racecar driver Charlie Kimball, who has Type 1 diabetes, aims to “put the most diabetes stories on the Internet” as a way to provide support for those in the diabetes community.

Residents of the United States who are at least 13 years old and who have diabetes, support someone with diabetes, or help the diabetes community are asked to submit an essay of 1,000 words or fewer describing the impact that diabetes has had on their life. Entries are due by July 6, 2009, with judging to begin the following day. Five finalists will be chosen for a public vote, to end on August 17, 2009. The Grand Prize winner will receive a trip for two to see Kimball compete in the Firestone Indy Lights Championship race at the Homestead-Miami Speedway in Florida on October 9, 2009.
