Recently, we brought you news about the ADA’s support and information program for those newly diagnosed with Type 2. An education program also exists for those who have Type 1 diabetes, called “Type 1 University.”
Created by Gary Scheiner, certified diabetes educator and exercise physiologist, Type 1 University features a series of live and prerecorded courses. Subjects range from “Mastering Pump Therapy” and “Advanced Carb Counting” to “Weight Loss for Insulin Users” and “Blood Glucose Control During Sports & Exercise.” Each lecture covers, in-depth, different aspects of daily self-management of diabetes. Courses are usually 45–50 minutes long and cost $29.95 for live lectures and $19.95 for prerecorded lectures.
